Old English Sheepdog "The Bobtail" - a Drover's Friend.
Taking him all around, this strong, compact, square,
balanced dog is profusely, but not excessively coated,
thickset, muscular and able-bodied. These qualities,
combined with his agility, fit him for the demanding
tasks required of a shepherd's or drover's dog.
The Old English Sheepdog is an adaptable, intelligent
dog of even disposition, with no sign of aggression, shyness
or nervousness. He is a playful, agile dog, and very fond of
children. He is protective of his family, and their property,
and makes a good addition to a country home where he can
get the daily exercise which he needs. They are highly
trainable, therefore the task of house breaking an
Old English Sheepdog puppy should be easy.
Male: 22 in. (55.8cm) at the withers.
Bitch: 21 in. (53.3cm). Length is practically the same as
the height. He stands lower at the withers than at the loin
with no indication of softness or weakness. This topline
is a distinguishing characteristic of this breed. |
