Norwegian Elkhound "Guardian of Home and Flock."
The Norwegian Elkhound is the national dog of Norway.
It's a medium size dog of substance, square in profile, close
coupled and balanced in proportions. Although it has become
well known and loved chiefly, perhaps, for its engaging and
sensitive qualities as a comrade of man, and its reliability and
quickness to learn and adapt itself to any circumstances
and conditions, it should never be forgotten that it has
been always, the peerless hunting dog of big game.
The Elkhound is a rugged outdoor type, bold and energetic.
It is an effective guardian yet normally friendly with people.
It displays great dignity and an independence of character.
Being very good with children, the Elkhound makes an
excellent family pet. It enjoys plenty of exercise and
a daily brushing of its thick abundant coat.
