German Wirehaired Pointer All-Purpose, Amiable Hunting Dog.
The German Wirehaired Pointer, named after his country
of origin, is a melding of the finest qualities of the Pointer,
Foxhound and Poodle. He could do it all, point and retrieve,
on land or in water. With his keen nose and his distinctive
weather resistant, wire like coat and protective facial hair
he's a rugged hunting dog ready for any sort of cover.
The German Wirehaired Pointer is a well muscled,
sturdily built, medium size dog. He is typically Pointer in
character and style, he is intelligent, easily trained, and very
energetic. The GWP is of sound, reliable temperament. He
can be aloof at times, but not unfriendly toward strangers.
He is a loyal and affectionate watchdog and companion
who is eager to please and enthusiastic to learn.
Dog: 24 - 26 in. (61 - 66 cm) at the withers.
Bitch: Smaller but not under 22 in. (56 cm).
Weight: 45 - 75 lb. (20.5 - 34.1 kg).
